Today is the beginning of Lent and after receiving ashes at Mass this morning, we had a talk with some of the students about taking time to reflect and come up with ways to improve. As a Catholic School, it is part of our mission to, not only educate these students in academics but to reach their souls and ultimately try to get them to heaven. That task seems very daunting at times, but we are laying the foundation for making faith-based choices in the future when they are not under our care.
Welcome to the St. Laurence Catholic School Blog! At SLCS, we enroll families, not only students, we become a family! It is important that our schools’ parents feel connected to the St. Laurence community, starting as new families, throughout your child’s academic years and well after graduation. We have something in common, the love for our students and for our Saints family!
SLCS was honored to receive a national award. Our school was awarded the Innovation in Education Award (ICE) for Community Involvement. This was announced at the National Catholic Educational Association Conference(NCEA) in St. Louis, Missouri. We were recognized by Today’s Catholic Teacher for contributions in the areas of Professional Learning Communities (PLC) for staff working together to improve students’ instruction and implementation of the +Works program, which involves using positive communication. Faculty and staff, families, students, benefactors, and community all are a part of this award!

If you are willing and able to help, please consider making a blood and/or platelet donation. Mr. Maklary is organizing a local blood drive that will be coming to St. Laurence on Saturday, January 7th. Read more...
