The Barrey family became members of St. Laurence Parish in 2013. Frank works as an IT consultant at MD Anderson, while Lundy works at Anytickets.com, which is an event ticket broker that obtains event tickets nationwide for concerts, sports, and theater. Their precious daughters, Mila (6th grade) and Audrey (4th grade) have been attending SLCS since pre-k. Both girls were born and baptized at Saint Anne Catholic Church.
Frank is a cradle Catholic of Filipino descent, while Lundy has Thai and Chinese heritage and Buddhist roots. However, despite their cultural and religious differences, they started a family together. After the birth of Mila, Frank and Lundy discussed their children's education and decided that a Catholic education was the right choice for them. Lundy later converted to Catholicism through a 10-month-long journey of RCIA through St. Laurence.
The Barrey family celebrates multiple cultures at home, paying tribute to their heritage and traditions. Whether it be Filipino, Thai, Chinese, or American, they cherish their family values. As a multicultural family, Frank and Lundy instill in their daughters a sense of respect and awareness for different cultures and religions.
Frank's side of the family is deeply devoted to their Catholic faith and parishioners of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Catholic holidays are very important celebrations for the Barrey family. During Thanksgiving, when families gather together, each member of the Barrey family has the opportunity to express what they are thankful for. This practice of sharing helps to foster deeper connections and strengthens family bonds.
Upon touring SLCS, Frank and Lundy were impressed by the school's exceptional staff and distinguished reputation as a two-time national Blue Ribbon School. They ultimately decided that SLCS was the best choice for their daughters' education. As the years passed, their experience at SLCS confirmed that they had made the right decision.
Lundy is an active school volunteer and wholeheartedly supports SLCS. She showcases her artistic flair through her exceptional floral arrangements and can often be found at the school helping with various projects and activities. Lundy takes immense pride in her volunteering and displays great initiative. She goes above and beyond, taking part in initiatives such as coordinating events, being a room mom, and celebrating teachers' birthdays. Her passion is infectious and inspires many in the school community.
One of the most cherished experiences for the Barrey family at SLCS is the Father & Daughter dance. Frank is blessed to dance with his two beautiful daughters, each with a charming personality. This cherished tradition at St. Laurence brings immense joy to the Barrey family. What a blissful blessing and a beautiful tradition at St. Laurence!
The Barrey family enthusiastically recommends SLCS to prospective Saints families. Lundy particularly appreciates the school's overwhelmingly supportive community and its rich cultural diversity. SLCS has dedicated and highly qualified faculty and staff. Additionally, the school is blessed to have the guidance and care of Mrs. Barto, an outstanding leader. The priests at our parish, including Father Drew, Father Jaison, and Father Truong Son, are also deeply involved in the school and communicate their messages in a way that is easily understood by everyone. The Barrey family is grateful for their exemplary leadership and the gift of Catholic education!
