Today is the beginning of Lent and after receiving ashes at Mass this morning, we had a talk with some of the students about taking time to reflect and come up with ways to improve. As a Catholic School, it is part of our mission to, not only educate these students in academics but to reach their souls and ultimately try to get them to heaven. That task seems very daunting at times, but we are laying the foundation for making faith-based choices in the future when they are not under our care. This becomes increasingly more difficult as we see the lessening of manners and respect all around us. We talked about being a leader and stepping up when they saw something that was wrong. Unfortunately, so many of our children are scared to speak up and stand out for fear of retribution. We reminded them that Jesus’ message was spread by a small minority of those who weren’t afraid of persecution.
God bless,
