St. Laurence Catholic School.
We are so proud and grateful to be a part of the St. Laurence Catholic School (SLCS) family. It is true that the extraordinary sense of faith, family, and community is lived out every day at SLCS. We began our journey with SLCS six years ago, and we have witnessed the countless sacrifices our principal, assistant principals, teachers, and staff have made to ensure all children receive the best education, faith formation, and individual nourishment in a safe environment. A big reason why we are also with SLCS is because of our principal, Mrs. Barto. She literally runs a marathon every single day, from morning carpool to late night meetings, all in the best interest of our children and school. We trust in her leadership. The focus on mental health is quite evident in the special programs the counselors, teachers, and staff have implemented. It is a blessing to have Father Drew, Father Jaison, and Father Truong Son, in addition to our Sisters as part of the trinity in educating these eager and curious minds. Our children (fourth grade son and first grade daughter) have developed into spiritually sound individuals which is very important to us. We can also attest to our niece who is in the second grade at SLCS - excelling year after year. This is an ever-changing world where children can easily get lost in, and SLCS keeps our children grounded in our Faith. Our son will tell you that he loves SLCS because he gets to pray at school, and our daughter will tell you that her favorite song is “Lamb of God” and that she is so proud to have learned to pray the rosary from Father Truong Son. It is without a doubt that SLCS is the best environment for our children. We are looking forward to having our third child at SLCS this August, and continue this journey with our wonderful and supportive SLCS family. -Christine Vo
As an active parent in our community, I know how important education is to create pathways to success, however, the foundation SLCS provides at a religious level gives our kids the best of both worlds. Catholic foundation along with quality education for all children is essential. At SLCS teachers are nurturing and loving while providing the structure and guidance my kid needs. It’s a privilege to be part of this wonderful community where the trinity of parent, child, and educator makes us what we are today! -Nora Sessions - Parent
While we are constantly impressed by the rigorous academics, the innovative tools and techniques, the safe and nurturing environment, and the emphasis on executive functioning and independence, for us it all comes down to the vibrant religious and moral character of St. Laurence. It is very important to us that our children receive a strong Catholic education, and St. Laurence excels at this. On those rare occasions when we start to daydream about the vacations we could take or the home improvements we could make instead of paying tuition, one of our daughters will come home and say something that simply astounds us and demonstrates the depth of religious and moral thought they are engaging in every day at school. The religious component clearly extends to every facet of life at St. Laurence and becomes part of everything our children do and say and the decisions they make. Our hearts have been touched in profound ways time and time again by our children’s words and actions because of the religious education they receive at St. Laurence. -Shawn St. John, ParentTESTIMONIALS FROM ALUMNI
As a 2010 graduate of St Laurence, I can honestly say that it totally prepared me for the material I saw in high school and was instrumental in my development. I would totally recommend it to anyone applying. The best middle school in Houston! - Carl Christian
We moved to Sugar Land 8 years ago from Lake Jackson, TX where our children attended a small but wonderful Catholic school. One of the key tenants of that school was to teach our children to know, love, and serve God and by doing so we would prepare them for not only live in this world but also for the next. We were concerned that we would not find a village as adept at helping us to raise our children in our Catholic faith, but we have been so blessed by the St. Laurence School and Parish community at nurturing the faith lives of our children as well as our own. Beyond being the village that shares our Catholic faith values, St. Laurence has high academic standards and offers many leadership and extracurricular opportunities to help our children reach their full potential. Ultimately we believe St. Laurence has prepared our daughter very well for the rigors of the Catholic college preparatory high school that she now attends. While there are certainly sacrifices to send our kids to Catholic schools we can’t think of a better investment knowing that it is providing the educational foundation and values that they will carry with them throughout their lives. - Jackie deGroot, Alumni Parent
I want to thank St. Laurence Catholic School for getting my son prepared and never giving up on him. am most proud of his A+ in Theology in high school. He loves his faith and learned to grow in it at SLCS.
He was blessed to go to a school where they saw his struggles and jumped right in with the reading specialist in Kindergarten. So many wonderful teachers making a difference in him year after year at St. Laurence. That little boy in Pre-K 4 has risen to the challenge and will make a difference in this world from the difference you all made in his life.
I am here to prove the SLCS point of mind, body, and soul is taught to prepare these children for anything. My son is constantly sought out as a Men for Others at Strake Jesuit because of his love for giving and helping. For this, I am most proud and blessed he attended SLCS.
SLCS helped him along the way. Thank you! - Kathleen Schroeder - Alumni Parent

TESTIMONIALS FROM COMMUNITY MEMBERS
As a St. Laurence parishioner, I was invited to attend Discernment Information night almost three years ago. The bulletin announcements jumped out at me week after week but since I didn't have any children attending SLCS (nor did I have any children at all), I initially dismissed the nudging. It wasn't until a friend of mine asked me if I would consider learning more about the school board, that I realized that nudging was a call to potentially serve. Sure enough, the Lord's plan for me was to serve SLCS on the school board, simply as a parishioner, for 3 years (even without being a parent)! The SLCS school board has become my most precious ministry and the reality is that you don't need to be a school parent to have a vested interest in and heart of compassion for each precious soul that is blessed to be educated here. Caring about children and what is best for them is the only prerequisite for the Holy Spirit to work through you to support the Pastor and school Principal, whose primary goal is to offer an unmatched education in the setting of our Catholic faith. SLCS grows the future of our parish and there is no better way to contribute to our future than to devote time and energy to the young heart & minds of our parish school. - Christina Hinojosa, Parishioner and former School Board Member
